AttendanceMattersRI: Governor McKee, Commissioner Infante-Green Recognize Weekly Attendance Leaders and Improved Schools 

 

Week of November 13, 2023   

 

PROVIDENCE, RI- Acknowledging the importance of consistent attendance in education and in alignment with the #AttendanceMattersRI campaign, Governor Dan McKee and Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green are pleased to highlight the top elementary, middle, and high schools with the greatest average weekly attendance, as well as elementary and secondary schools with the greatest improvement in weekly attendance.  

  

The following schools are Rhode Island’s attendance leaders for the week of November 13, 2023*:  

  

·     Elementary: E.G. Robertson School, Warwick – 97.91% 

·     Middle: Lawn Avenue School, Jamestown – 96.92% 

·     High School: Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts ** – 97.51% 

  

Special recognition is extended to the following schools for demonstrating the most improved average attendance rates from the previous week: 

  

·     Elementary: Centredale Elementary School, North Providence -- 3.56% 

·     Middle: Hamlet Middle School, Woonsocket – 4.24% 

·     High School: Newcomer Academy, Providence – 4.67% 

  

The Governor and Commissioner express their gratitude and encouragement to all schools in Rhode Island for their ongoing efforts to prioritize attendance and reinforce the value of consistent learning experiences for all students.

When asked about the civil fraud trial verdict ordering him to pay 355-million-dollars, Trump called it "a form of Navalny."        House Republicans are grilling President Biden's brother behind closed doors today. James Biden is testifying before the House Oversight and Judiciary committees as part of the impeachment inquiry into the president. GOP lawmakers claim the president improperly profited from his family's overseas business dealings while vice president in the Obama administration.        The trial of the armorer who worked on the set of the film "Rust" will start today in New Mexico. Hannah Gutierrez-Reed is charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter after she loaded the gun that was fired by actor Alec Baldwin that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Jury selection will get underway today in Santa Fe after the judge denied to dismiss the charges.        Two men have been charged with murder for their alleged roles in the Kansas City Super Bowl parade shooting. Police identified who fired the bullet that killed the one deceased victim, Lisa Lopez-Galvan, but both men face the same charges. Twenty-two people were injured in the shooting.        The six day search for a missing Texas girl has come to a tragic end. The body of eleven-year-old Audrii Cunningham was found Tuesday in a river, not far from her suburban Houston home. The last person to see her alive was a family friend. Don McDougal lived behind the family's home and has been charged with capital murder.        Tonight's Powerball jackpot sits at 348-million-dollars. That carries a cash value of over 164-million-dollars. This comes as no one won last night's Mega Millions drawing. That jackpot now stands at 525-million-dollars, with a cash value over 247-million.
