On March 13, 2023, the Statewide Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Joshua Gomez with a total of six counts: two counts of first-degree child molestation, two counts of second-degree child molestation, one count of assault with intent to commit first-degree child molestation, and one count of failure to notify change of address by sex offender.

 

The alleged acts occurred in both Johnston and Providence on various dates between March 1, 2021, and November 20, 2022. The investigation was jointly conducted by the Rhode Island State Police, the Providence Police Department, and the Johnston Police Department.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on March 29, 2023 in Providence County Superior Court.

 

 

Prosecutors in former President Trump's New York hush money criminal trial have filed a motion arguing he should be held in contempt. In the filing, New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg argues Trump violated a gag order with recent social media posts. Prosecutors claim Trump "willfully violated" the gag order with several posts they said attacked two known witnesses in the case -- Michael Cohen and Stormy Daniels.        America's heartland could see severe thunderstorms today. The storms will continue to make their way across the midwest. Areas in Minnesota to Arkansas are expected to be hit by the powerful storms.        A Supreme Court case could squash felony charges against January 6th rioters and Former President Trump. The justices are hearing an appeal today brought by a former police officer who is seeking to dismiss a charge accusing him trying to overturn the 2020 election. The officer argues the obstruction law only applies to document shredding.        Iowa has enacted law making illegal immigration a state crime. The bill signed into law by Republican Governor Kim Reynolds allows state officers to arrest migrants who have previously faced deportation. Reynolds claims the Biden administration has failed to address drug trafficking and human smuggling at the border.        A second House Republican says he'll support an effort to oust Speaker Mike Johnson from power. Kentucky Republican Thomas Massie called on Johnson to resign and announced he's co-sponsoring a resolution offered by Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene to remove Johnson as Speaker. Johnson told reporters today he will not step down and said the effort is not helpful to the country.        The NBA Play-In Tournament is set to begin tonight. In the Western Conference, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers will visit Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans in a matchup to decide the seventh seed. Elsewhere, Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors look to keep their season alive against De'Aaron Fox and the Sacramento Kings.
