WOONSOCKET ROTARY TO HOLD ANNUAL CLOTHING DIVE

 

Woonsocket Rotary will be holding their annual clothing drive on Saturday, September 24, 2022 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.  Donations will be accepted at two Woonsocket locations, Radio Station WNRI located at 786 Diamond Hill Road and Holy Trinity Catholic Church located at 1409 Park Avenue. Woonsocket Rotary is seeking donations of new and gently used children’s clothing suitable for ages 0 -17 for foster children and other families in need. The clothing drive will benefit the “just for you” clothing closet and is brought to the community through a partnership of Woonsocket Rotary and Community Care Alliance.

 

The “just for you” clothing closet serves as a giving center for foster, homeless, and disadvantaged children residing in the Woonsocket, North Smithfield, and Burrillville area communities.  The program offers new and gently used clothing, toiletries, backpacks and diapers at no cost to the families.

A former Republican House Speaker says his party must stop underestimating President Biden. In a post on his website, Newt Gingrich said Republicans focus on the little things like the President sometimes having difficulty speaking. However, Gingrich argues the strong dislike Republicans have for Biden leads to the GOP underestimating him.        Over 200-thousand jobs were added to the U.S economy in November. The Labor Department says 263-thousand jobs were created last month. Meantime, the unemployment rate stayed at three-point-seven percent.        President Biden is meeting with the Prince of Wales in Boston. Biden greeted Prince William at the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum this afternoon. It's one of several stops William and his wife Kate, the Princess of Wales, have planned today.        Early voting for the Georgia Senate runoff election wraps up today. Democratic incumbent Raphael Warnock and Republican Herschel Walker are squaring off in a race to decide the nation's last Senate seat. Polls will also be open statewide from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday.       The NYPD is warning about pickpockets at holiday spots in New York City. NYPD Sergeant Jimmy Freyre, [[Friar]] along with his team, are on the lookout for crooks with quick hands. Some of the prime locations for pickpockets include the Winter Village at Bryant Park, the Rockefeller Christmas tree and the holiday windows on Fifth Avenue.        The Christmas action-horror film "Violent Night" is bringing in one-point-one-million-dollars from Thursday previews. The David Harbour led film is expected to bring between ten and 12-million-dollars in its opening weekend at the domestic box office. It's projected to get beat by Marvel Studio's "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," which is predicted to make between 17 and 25-million-dollars in its fourth weekend in theaters.
