Autumnfest Rolling Parade 

 

Woonsocket – Autumnfest 2020, the year that wasn’t. In order to keep the Autumnfest Spirit alive, The Autumnfest Steering Committee announces the first Autumnfest Rolling Parade that will begin at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 12, 2020 from the Hamlet Middle Schools. The Autumnfest Rolling Parade will consist of numerous vehicles that will travel around the city of Woonsocket to remind residents that Autumnfest will be back in 2021. Also, Autumnfest wants to recognize out First Responders at Woonsocket Police and Fire and recognize the Doctors and Nurses and all the employees at Landmark Medical Center. 

 

Here is the parade route. 

 

Starting at Hamlet Middle Schools - Left onto Hamlet Ave. - turn right onto Cumberland Hill Rd. – to Oakland Grove 

Turn right onto Cumberland Hill Road - right onto Cass Ave. – Landmark Medical Center 

Turn right onto Cass Avenue - turn left onto Nursery Ave. and proceed to Poplar St. to Woonsocket Health and Rehab. Center 

Follow Poplar St. to Nursery Ave. and turn left onto Cass Ave. 

Turn left onto Mendon Rd. 

Turn right onto Diamond Hill Rd. - Ocean State Job Lot and Tractor Supply Co. – cross Diamond Hill Rd. to Woonsocket Plaza – Price Rite, etc. 

Turn right onto Diamond Hill Road and turn right onto Mendon Rd. to Ballou Home. 

Turn right onto Diamond Hill Rd. 

Turn left onto Social St. - turn right onto East School St. – turn left onto Pond St. 

Turn right onto Social St., right onto Railroad St. to Harris Ave. to a left onto Singleton St. 

Turn Left onto River St. to Rhodes Ave. to the Friendly Home back onto Rhodes Ave. and turn right onto Second Ave. 

Turn left onto Mason St. – turn left onto South Main St. – turn right onto Providence St. 

Turn left onto Smithfield Rd. - turn left onto Park Ave. 

Turn left onto Bernon St. around rotary to Main St. to Clinton St. 

Turn right onto Cumberland Hill Rd. - Back to Hamlet Middle Schools

Autumnfest is the largest community festival in Northern Rhode Island now entering its 43rd year. It's been recommended health care workers and those at severe risk, like nursing homes, get priority.        More than 13 million Americans have been infected by the coronavirus. The U.S. has seen a spike in cases since mid-October. More than 264-thousand Americans have died because of COVID-19-related complications.        The Trump administration is rolling back protections for migratory birds. They are reinterpreting the 1918 migratory bird statute to reduce penalties for companies and developers who inadvertently kill them. Environmentalists argue the change will "give polluters carte blanche to kill birds, [which is] not just illegal, it's cruel."        Intelligence officials are reportedly blaming Israel for assassinating Iran's top nuclear scientist. Mohsen Fakhrizadeh [[ MOO-sin FAH-hiz-eh-deh ]] was shot in his car. Tehran called today's attack an act of terror and vowed to take revenge.       A red flag warning is in effect in southern California and has been extended through tomorrow evening amid dry, gusty conditions. High winds bring potential for wind damage, downed trees and power lines for high fire danger. Parts of southern California are currently without power as a precaution against potential wildfires.        Phil Mickelson and Charles Barkley made it look easy as they beat Peyton Manning and Stephen [[ STEFFEN ]] Curry in Capital One's "The Match," winning 4 and 3. Mickelson and Barkley took advantage on the front nine, winning four-straight and five out of six holes to take the turn at three-up. In total, the event raised more than five-million dollars for Historically Black Colleges and Universities.        Cher is in Pakistan today to send off an elephant she spent years trying to rescue from poor living conditions. The 36-year-old Asian elephant named Kaavan will be airlifted to a province in Cambodia. His transfer is the result of an animal rights campaign to resettle the "loneliest elephant" kept chained up for 27 years at the Islamabad Zoo.
